Editorials

Editorials, although usually a written form, are my commentaries on ongoing social, political and even private issues. Although each of my pieces is driven of a specific emotion or thought, these more than others try to convey it to the viewer and evoke a reaction.

The Black Protest

Janina Jablecka, alcohol markers on paper, 2021

This drawing, created as part of the Inktober challenge, was inspired by the wave of protests in support of women’s rights in Poland, became a kind of symbol and appeared in many global online publications.

It went viral twice, featured in multiple publications a media, in 2021 when the so called “Black Protest” was at its height, and later in 2023, when a young mother lost her life as a result of the legal restrictions imposed in the country.
